The spring session of mixed age Music Together® classes will consist of a choice of 1. in person AND online classes or 2. exclusively online classes. These classes will feature the Triangle collection. The drumming based Rhythm Kids classes will be online with the hope for a few in person, outdoor pop-up class experiences throughout the session. Rhythm Kids will have fun with the Jaguar collection. Spring classes begin the week of April 5th.
The in person classes will be held in a much larger space with fewer families. All participants ages 2 years and up will be required to wear face masks from the moment they enter the building until they leave. Families will be distanced approximately 10 feet apart in the room. Instruments will be cleaned thoroughly after each class and not shared during class. Families are welcome to bring their own instruments, if they prefer. Activities will be adjusted to assure safe distancing throughout the class. Families will be asked not to attend the in person class if anyone has a fever or has experienced any symptoms of Covid within the past 24 hours or has been in close contact with a person testing positive for Covid. If a family needs to miss an in person class for any reason, they will make up the class by viewing the additional online classes. There will be no in person makeup classes during the spring session. The number adults attending each class will be limited to one adult per child.
The format for the online program will consist of two pre-recorded class videos posted each week. Families will be able to view the videos at their own convenience and can view them repeatedly. The videos will each be 20-25 minutes in length to keep in line with best practices for screen time for children. Are you busy during the first weeks of the session? No worries! You can access the online classes at your family's convenience. Some families choose to wait and view the classes on the weekends so the whole family can enjoy making music together!
Activities in each class will include singing, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences--developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers--regardless of their own musical ability. Classes will be accessed through a private Facebook group set up just for registered families.
Each family will receive a Triangle or Jaguar book and CD complete with a download code to access the music through the Hello Everybody App or Music Together's Family Music Zone. Additional content to explore will include activities created just for your child and at home fun. To access the Family Music Zone, families will create an account at www.musictogether.com/account using the code provided. Families will also receive a quarterly e-newsletter and access to the national informative website. New families receive a wonderful Parent Education Guide.
